Children K-8 and their families take a 45-50 minute magical-musical journey around the globe. Participants will experience music from such countries as Kenya, Japan, Spain and Argentina and learn about rhythmic elements that make each nation’s music special and unique. This program also includes music by composers Johann Strauss Jr., Sir Edward Elgar, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and John Williams. Passports are not required for this international journey, but active imaginations are encouraged!

A 45 minute interactive concert based upon the beloved classic orchestral work Carnival of the Animals by French master-composer Saint-Saens. Participants K-4 will be encouraged to guess the identity of mystery animals by listening to their musical portraits. Is this a big animal or a small animal? How does the animal move? What sounds does the animal make? Listen to a sample and try your animal safari skills!

Based upon Prokofiev’s 1925 quintet, this multi-media, interactive family program tells the story of  Peter and his animal friends cleaning  up the environment. Complete with costumes, original art, and live music, this fun-filled concert experience includes important lessons for everyone.

Members of the Virginia Virtuosi are available to lead master classes, sit side-by-side with your students through a rehearsal, and teach group classes and/or private lessons. Please contact us for more details.

Virginia Virtuosi is available for a unique 5 day workshop-program for up to 25 students grades 4-8. Participants will spend day one building their own string instruments from kits with the help of Virginia Virtuosi members. Days 2-4 are spent rehearsing a commissioned piece of music using the new instruments. Day 5 is a performance day with participants playing side-by-side with their Virginia Virtuosi musical mentors.
